My Approach

I am a humanistic integrative therapist and I work from a relational perspective. This means the humanistic part of my work focuses on being open, non-judgmental and inclusive of all clients I work with. I hold a holistic view of people, encompassing mind, body and soul, as exclusion of one doesn’t create a complete picture. The integrative part of my work means I draw on different methodologies so I can offer an individual experience for each of my clients. The relational aspect of my work highlights the importance of creating a balanced working relationship.

It can be very daunting deciding to attend a counselling session so having an idea of what to expect can help to lessen the uncomfortable feelings. The first session at my practice is designed for us to meet and exchange information to make sure I am the right counsellor for you. I am happy to answer any question you have and we can discuss why you are coming for counselling at this time and what you would like to get from the sessions. I would also explain contracting for the sessions, fees, and confidentiality regarding all aspects of your personal information. After this I usually work with clients on a weekly basis with regular review sessions to make sure the work stays focused and beneficial. To offer protection and security for my clients I am a member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.
